Dinosaurs, Darwin, Birds, Bees, and Coraline

Yesterday Art, Suzy, Carlos and I went to the Museum of Natural History of Los Angeles. We met with Helen, Raymond (her bf), Briana and Lily. It was strange seeing everyone there at the same time. We got to see some dinosaur bones, birds, artifacts, and other strage pottery and jewelry things. We also got to attend a lecture on Darwin, evolution, and the missing link. Darwin is 150 years old this year. It was a fun lecture and both speakers were entertaining. I just wish I could have seen the power point at a better angle.

After the lecture, we went to see The Bird and the Bee and Jukebox the Ghost (think softer versions of Kiss Kiss and tamer Hot Hot Heat). JBtG was good :) I'd definitely watch them again and buy their album. B&B sang Again and Again as their second song, so I was satisfied enough to leave early. I had a lot of fun aside from the fact that I was burning up inside the packed place with little ventilation. I tried to get some shots with my cell, but there was too much glare *sigh* I miss my Canon and my LG phone :( (I'm so pissed at whoever stole my bag!). I'll see if any of the shots came out half decent to post. I definitely should have taken more shots of the dinosaur bones and stuffed animals :P

After the museum, we went to the Grove to watch Coraline in 3D! It was great even though we had to sit way in the front because the place was packed. Good movie. I'd give it a 4/5 stars :) It's a cross between Alice in Wonderland, Spirited away, Night Mare Before Christmas. It was a nice blend of stop motion, cg and others. I couldn't tell cause of the 3D. I hope they release a special edition DVD with 3D glasses so I could watch it properly. Definitely a movie you should see in theaters.

After the movie, we had yet to eat any real food, so we end up at Little Tokyo and eat at one of the few places still open and surprisingly pretty full called Suehiro Cafe. The food is your typical Japanese udons, sobas (cold), misou stuff, gyoza, some chinese, sushi, tempura stuff, sukiyaki, etc. Service is good with a very mom and pop feel. The place is quaint with some random drawings laminated and posted on the walls. We got there at 12:30am and it was still open by the time we left at around 1:30. Their plum wine ice cream is yummy. It has nice chunks of preserved plum and a subtle liquor flavor. I had the oyakudon and Art, as always took the house special--which happend to have eggplant which he hates >_>. Anyway it was good times and definitely a late and exhausting time I definitely wanted to get to bed right after, but I'd do it all over again, even if the weather was beyond crappy.
