Still Confused
We checked out another place today and it has potential. I have my own bathroom and a nice sized bed. While the place is kinda dirty, at least the room is a good size and I can do my bathroom however I want. I don't think I'll be doing much cooking if I decide to take this place though. We'll see. I have two more to check out and hopefully I'll be able to choose one among the three. I'm tired of searching through ads even though I've only seen 3 places so far. It's been getting better. Cris was right. I'm glad I followed his advice and didn't make a jump decision.
Today we also had the talk, but I guess I'm still confused about the whole thing. The more it gets discussed, the more confused I am on how I feel about everything. It's a scary thought to not know exactly what to do for once and not be able to fully develop a logic behind your emotions. All the while, I got locked out of my apartment for the first time since I moved in. Luckily my onsite manager was home and had a master key, otherwise that would have been really sad.
While I was trying to get my life in order, my friend Kathleen calls and says she's in Beverlyhills. She is with her Yelp foodie friends at Ruth's Chris Steak House on Beverly Dr. It's fine dining, but casual. We had a party of 9, so we had a nice private section away from full on noise. The food was actually good, although not something I would really pay that much for. I ate portabello mushrooms, mashed potatoes, cherry tomatos in garlic sauce which was $20. It was definitely good and very filling. Don't know if it was worth $20, but I preferred eating that over rib eye. I was so not hungry when I got there and everyone was just piling on the food, appetizers, and deserts. I had a bit here and there, and when the bill came, everyone decided to split the appetizers evenly. The bill totaled about $1,100 for 9 of us. Not bad considering there was 9 of us and a corking fee for the wine that was brought. With tax and tip plus the appetizers I didn't really eat, but Katheen dumped on my plate, I was supposed to pay about $70 more or less. I also had tea. After all the confusion and money being thrown around, I ended up just paying for the portabello. I was appalled that I would pay that much for food I didn't really eat (yet again), but whatever, I wasn't going to complain. But for whatever reason I was spared. I was glad since I'm so poor right now. I'll pay that much for clothes and electronics, but not food unless it is a good week's worth of groceries. I guess I'm cheap like that.
After the dinner, we head to Melrose for some ice cream. I forgot the name of the place. I think it was called Scoops near LA City College. Anywho, the place around it was very creepy and ghetto considering we were in Beverly Hills only moments before. I tried so hard to not go, but Wes was very kind to invite me in such a way that I found it very difficult to say no. I ended up coming along and ate bread pudding? ice cream and fig something. I really liked the fig. They also had the most unique combination of ice creams. They had chocolate wasabi and pistachio jalapeno just to name two of their weirder ones. The owner was really nice. I think he might have been Korean. The shop was small and filled with urban hipsters/urbanites. It was nice. The art was very iam8bit like. After that was all said and done, the group went to Abbot Kinney in Venice to go eat at a taco bar or something. Yes, I know these people are real foodies. Anyway I pretty much said no thanks and they finally let me go. The parking (given that is was Beverly Hills I guess, was $12 for 2 hours. -_-. I should have just drove there myself. I rode with the group and so my car was left in the parking place that had a fee after the first 2 hours were done. I was parked for 4 hours since the group took forever to leave the restaurant.
All in all, it was a fun experience. I got to take pictures with the Yelpers. My face might be plastered on Yelp for all I know. Everytime I eat with Kathleen, it's a stomach churning expereince I regret at the time, but enjoy in retrospect. I'm just glad she's my friend. Never thought we'd still be friends for this long since we graduated, but we did. :) Speaking of which, I have to buy her a present. Crap. Ok must run.
