New Addition

Parker's candle stick toes
Earlier today at around 9:05am, I recieved a wakeup call from my sister. At about 6:54am PST, our cousin's son was born.

Phone rings the infamous Iris by Goo goo Dolls. In a somewhat disgruntled mess I manage to fend for the phone and say "Hello?" "It's a boy!" my sister enthusiastically says. A split second later I realize what she means, "I know" and continue with "I knew since last month!" Which is true, but then what else can you say when you already know the sex of the baby despite the stereotypical first question/reaction? "It's a human?"

It's a boy! 8lbs 12ozNeedless to say, I am happy. I think we all were. I was concerned initially that our nephew would come out late or there would be some complication, but luckily everything went relatively smoothly. After about 16 hours of labor and half an hour of pushing, our came Parker. The newest addition to the family. And he is, might I add, a cute baby. He might even have blue or hazel eyes ^_^. Looks just like his mommy. He couldn't go wrong really. Two good looking parents won't amount to anything bad. So several hours later we visit and take pictures. Parker is very knocked out. Apparently no amount of passing him around or poking would awaken him from his slumber. And his dad and mom poked a prodded quite a bit >_-.

Anyway I just wanted to get this up as soon as I could. I'm sure the two proud and very tired parents are exhausted. Nice work and congratulations to Melissa and Kuya Jason =) It's a healthy and beautiful baby boy =D.

Strangeness

Yesterday one of my close friends randomly decided to give me a call. She's currently somewhere in Missouri or Mississippi or something, because of her job. It was kinda weird talking to her again since our last talk nearly a year ago. She apparently lost my number and recently found it again and decided to make the call as she was driving to work. She is the greatest.

You would think that after that length of time I would have more things to say. Sadly I remained somewhat speechless and somewhat out of it in disbelief. It comes with the initial shock and then not really wanting to spill your guts out on the first call, as if you were trying to ease yourself back to that comfortable spot you once had. Still, it was nice to hear from her. She's one of the few people whom I can completely trust and confide in despite our distance and lack of communication. She is still the same very fun, very genuine and very smart person I knew in high school. While in high school, we were in different crowds until our senior year. She was one of those beautiful, almost perfect, hard to reach people in high school. For some reason we became good friends, and I realized she was more down-to-earth than I knew. She's always so great to be around. I'm so glad we became friends.

Moving along, my cousin and his fiance are currently at the hospital for their first child. I'm certain the baby will be extremely cute if he looks anything like his parents. Who knows, he might even have blue or hazel eyes. Oh and his name is going to be Parker ^_^. So heads up to my youngest nephew...if you're out yet that is ^_-. If not, then Auntie Shine will be waiting for you and I will come and visit with my camera! =D So beware. I'll be posting pictures of the little bundle asap.

David BowieWith that done, I guess I have one thing left that I will share. I decided to get my hair cut again. Nothing drastic. Still close to the same, but slightly shorter. I'm pretty satisfied. I only wish that my hair would have some high lights. It's so black that no amount of color will stick to it unless I purposely strip it of color--which I refuse to do. I like my hair thank you very much. Which brings me to the next topic. Japanese people, in general, have beautiful straight black hair. Why in the world do they mess it up with bleach, curls, stripping, frizzing and dying?! It not only ruins their naturally beautiful hair, but it looks freaking bad! According to my sister, they purposely damage their hair so it will hold a style. And that "style" they're going for is the old improvised American 80's hair band style. *shiver* out of all the eras to choose. Freaking 80s?! Come on! No one in their right mind would want to look like David Bowie! *sigh*. I mean it's not like they see people here with hair like that still razor shaved and bleached to a frizz (relatively speaking). I would rather look natural and classic and freakish and rebelliously ridiculus.

KoyukiTake the very beautiful and extremely talented
Koyuki. She's probably best known in the US for her role in The Last Samurai. Although I took note of her right away when I saw her in that film, I really admired her for her ability to act so well in "Kimi wa Petto" (which is btw, one of my favorites) based on the manga of the same name (US Tokyo Pop relased the manga here and retitled it "Tramps Like Us" My reaction to that is WTF?!). Ah she's so graceful, so delicate and so beautiful. She's also such a great actress that I'm so surprised they haven't exploited her talents yet. Anyway, if that was a movie, it would be on my top five list. Since it is a jdorama/manga adaptation, I don't really know where to put it, so it's one of my faves in general. Call me cheesy cause I've seen it several times and noticed a lot of flaws, but the emotion is in there. I guess that's why I like it so much. It helps a lot that Matsumoto Jun is in there (Sawada Shin of Gokusen Live Action). *sigh* Sucks I'm older than him by a few months. Haha, not like I have a chance anyway. T_T.

Note: If you visit
Koyuki's official site translated to English, note that The Last Samurai is "Rust Samurai" Japan does not distinguish "R"s and "L"s, so they are interchangable.

Find Me

I've been a member of dA (deviantArt) for a few years now and I've been reluctant to post any discerning deviantID. I'm usually the one notorious for taking pictures and I am the one with currently two digital cameras. Ironically, I have few decent pictures and even fewer of myself alone.

Last week, however, we went to
Disneyland to celebrate Disneyland's 50th Anniversary. It was a party only the way Disney could make it =). We got to be one of the first thousand to ride the newly remodeled Space Mountain (which was by far the most fun ride there) and a few other classic rides that seemed, now, lack luster probably because of frequent revisions. In such cases, the original rides were the best.

In the shot above, is a candid picture of yours truly waiting inline for The Pirates of the Carribean *sigh*. I miss my Disney Sing-A-Long Song Tape T_T. Well, I think I'll use this as my deviantID. It's enough not to scare people away I guess. And now, I will worry about going back to work *oh fun*.

Pita Ten

I remembered that you could easily send pictures using Hello on blogger, so I decided to test it out by posting my first attempt at drawing with a pentablet.

This is my rendition of Shia of Pita Ten by Koge Donbo. For those of you who don't know, Pita Ten began as a popular manga that eventually became a sucessful anime at that. Both are very well drawn and light hearted. For deeper story lines and issues, the manga is highly recommended and not a long invest ment. With a total of eight books and 24 episodes, Pita Ten is full of delightful art and emotion.

Trendypencil is born! July 25, 2005!

At long last. I finally have my very own website Trendypencil.com!
It's taken me long enough (a little over seven years), and I must thank my ever so compulsive and occasionally generous sister-man Sheryl! Check out her "official" site acousiticlullaby.com. She has a lot of time on her hands =D.

Well, this being my first post on the site, I'll keep it relatively short. The site is going to be under "major construction". Don't worry, I won't leave it like that longer than a few weeks, but please bear with the mess. In the meantime, you can send me any suggestions or comments to me shine [at] trendypencil.com. I'm excited to finally have more space to myself, so maybe I'll finally get things done. Till my next post!
