The power of 2

I remember when I was younger and my older cousins would take me out. I was always excited and had a lot of fun primarily because I got to spend find out what the older people did without us. The other week I had some time with the younger people, so we went to eat at CPK and then headed for the beach. It was the hottest weekend so far this year, so it was nice to get some cool pacific beach winds.

Today, despite my massively stressful weekend, I decided to brush it off for a few hours to spend time with my cousin from San Diego. She will be the second to go to UCLA aside from me, among our generation. I was so excited to finally have someone to talk bruin about! lol. I met up with her at Rieber. I remember when she was just a little kid running around and causing trouble. Now she is the captain of their basketball team, Lacrosse, in track and who knows what sports team they have in their high school. I am very proud of her, not only because she chose UCLA, but she was able to remain active in sports, grounded, and kept up with her good grades.

Her dad, my uncle, is so funny and kinda cheap with the money even though they certainly don't need to be. I think they're looking for a prom dress somewhere in LA at them moment. Anyway it was fun. We didn't get much done. We walked alot and she was very full from all the eating (UCLA dining halls have the best food among any college anywhere), so we just checked out Ackerman for souvenirs even though my uncle was opposed.

There were so many people on campus today. A lot of campus tours and bruin life kids walking around. Anyway, it was fun to meet up with family at a familiar place. Maybe I'll have more time to meet up with her next semester (although I doubt it with my sched and hers). We'll see. I have two more years and she has 4 more to be accustomed to the environment and no longer feel overwhelmed. I know she'll do fine. She's a good kid. :)

I Love Riley!

Since I've been good and productive over the weekend, I guess I have time to post this. We got a new dog, I named her Riley (Rilo Kiley). My brother insists on making her confused and calls her Dizzy (JEW). I like both, although Dizzy reminds me of the Tiny Toon's cartoon chracter more than the song. Anywho, she's super cute. I'm sure you'll agree. If she were a "he", it would have been much easier to name her, but anyway my mom and dad call her Riley and she's a cutie pie. Too bad I haven't seen her yet. I won't be able to see her until near end of the semester when I go home. *sad face* I really want to see her though. Maybe I'll try to go home this weekend if I don't have tons of work to do. I can't resist dogs :)

So over the weekend a few people went to Bamboozle. I kinda wanted to go, but of course school comes first. Coachella is around the corner and one day passes have already sold out I've been told. The line-up this year isn't that great though. The only people/bands I'd want to see are Jack Johnson, Death Cab, and maybe Rilo Kiley. The others are kinda "meh". I also can't believe Smashing Pumpkins aren't in there or the Foo Fighters. Last year Coachella was pretty awesome. I remember Matt (drummer for the June echo) did the 3 day thing. Lucky bastard. Btw, his band is really good. Matt gave me a copy of their EP and it was on rotation in my car for a while. Definitely check their site out and watch one of their shows (if you're into indie rock ala Death Cab, Kaiser Cheifs, Belle & Sebatian type thing you'd most likely love their music. It's my kind of thing, so I could be biased :).

Anyway I'm so ready for summer--not summer classes, but just summer. I need a fresh start of new classes. This term has not been nice to me. While I made it into the honor society with a nifty GPA, I know that GPA won't hold for this term. I also don't plan on attending the uber prestigious initiation ceremony since I won't have time to go to our business meeting and I'll be too preoccupied with studying and saving my parents gas money from attending.

In the meantime, I think I'll finally meet up with my friends after the term ends. I have been putting it off and rescheduling for a while (since my birthday). We've all been very busy and Cris even asked me when we'd be able to have dinner, and he normally doesn't initiate the dinner plans! That says something. Well I'm tired and need to wake up at 6:30 to test a child in Compton and then about 6 hours of classtime plus a presentaiton. Fun.
