Christmas season, you gotta love it

So Christmas day is over, but the season continues. Here's basically what went on.

Dec 22 - Carlson and Mel finally get married. Cousins and friends eat at Outback for dinner.
Dec 23 - Anthony's first birthday and reception for Carlson and Mel. Guitar Hero and Mario Galaxy all night on the Wii, cousin bonding, and Charles attempt on performing the cinnamon challenge was thwarted due to lack of cinnamon availability (Thank God). Ate tons of food. Took tons more home.

Dec 24 - Went to my aunt's house and spent Christmas Eve there. Went to the midnight mass there as well. Her family was complete with my cousins and their sons. Ate more food. Bonded with nephew :) The boys played PS3 (Assassins Creed). Adults talked till 4am about our uncle and his family in Canada >_>. Poor uncle :P

Dec 25 - Aunt made us breakfast and ate more food, elders chatted some more. We drove back home after lunch to spend the rest of Christmas at my grandfather's house (father's side). Ate some more, opened presents. Watched Super Bad with my brother and my cousin (not recommended to see with parents or anyone under 17). Ate some Japanese snacks from my uncle. More cousins and relatives came, more presents opened. Chatted with my preteen cousin and tried playing My Little Pony with the youngest one. Ate more food cause grandfather insisted. Can't say "no" to our grandfather :) and went home.
At home my mom finally opened her presents. She was laughing so much that she was kind of crying since we my brother, dad and I teamed up on to hide and buy her present. I'm so good. She nearly bought it too, but with the help of my brother and my dad, we prevented her from buying it. Needless to say, she was very sad at that time which caused me to feel bad, but it was worth it when I saw her smiling and laughing on Christmas :D

I also was responsible for kind of preventing my dad from getting what he wanted that same day. My mom ended up buying what he wanted for Christmas. I was asleep when he opened it, but my mom took pictures. He was happy with that contained smile of his ^^ and today he bought accessories for it. I also gave my dad some gym clothes since he's been working out at the gym with his personal trainer. He wore some of the gear today :)

As for my brother. I know we really spoil him. I am partly and to blame for it since I know exactly what he wants. It's so easy to buy him presents, so it's always fun to see his reaction. You should see/hear his reaction to his present this year XD priceless! Now all he has to get is a PS3. Now that's something I refuse to buy for him unless he gets straight As next semester!

I didn't expect much of anything this year especially since I'm no longer a kid. It's honestly much more more fun for me to give people things they really want and see the expressions they have on their faces. Nevertheless, everyone gave me something. I feel very blessed for having friends and family who remember me. I had a really great Christmas this year and it's not just because of the presents.

My dad, brother and I completed Simbang Gabi. My dad actually put an effort to surprise my mom with a present. My family and I went to great lengths to get each other the perfect gift without the other finding out (which was the most fun part). We're such a funny and happy family XD. We spent Christmas with both sides of the family. The new cousins had a happy first Christmas here, and my grandfather was somewhat happy despite our noise. Maybe next year it will be at our house and feel more Christmassy. Our house is especially beautiful this year with the decorations and tree.

Christmas season

My first semester of gradschool is over and I survived! I can't believe this it went by as quickly as it did.
I turned in my stats final and my final paper on Sunday and my final last week. I'm so glad I didn't waste my time finding participants and developing a completely new survey. I was tempted to pay the $40 2month subscription to conduct a longer, more "valid" one, but I didn't want to waste any more money than I had to. I was almost going to get really pissed at myself for half assing that paper as much as I did and coming home early without completely finishing my paper first, but I'm glad I did. Being home recharged me. With my brother's help, I was able to finish my paper with the little strength I had left. Long story short, I got 23/25 points for that paper. Not bad for something that had extremely poor external validity.
After all that hard work, I was able to help some people with their paper and learned how to use SPSS a lot better than I ever knew how as an undergrad. I may be saying this in hindsight, but I actually enjoyed my stats class. It felt similar to the classes I had as an undergrad, but much more work and a lot less organized/structured than I would have wanted. That is very far from the opinions of my cohort apparently. I wonder if our prof will still have a job next year after all the negative feed back from my cohort? D:
As for the other classes, I'm 99.9% positive I have As in 3 of my classes and 99% I have an A in the other. Unless I have a horribly jacked up final, I should be okay and I know I didn't do that bad on that law and ethics class. I had complete points up to the final.
This Christmas/Advent time has been pretty nice. I came home Saturday morning. It's funny cause when I got home, everything just fell back into place as if I never left. People are just alot happier to see me and the house is a lot messier than it was D:
God has been very good to me this year. I realized two of my dreams. One is going to New York and the other is getting into grad school. I also found my apartment just in time for school. Despite my old roommate moving out, I was able to find another roommate before the end of the year. All of this while worrying about finals. Stressful, but worth it in the end. I survived and I am loving it. I got good grades, which I almost didn't think was possible with all the work, but I did it. Before school started, I also went to Disneyland with my family and cousins. I wasn't able to get the 50th anniversary gold Mickey ears, but I did get the Millennium Ears this time :)
Since I got home Saturday, Simbang Gabi started on Sunday and my uncle was the decon serving. He also served last night and did the sermon, which was nice. It's amazing how much people can change when they open up to God. My dad was going over our old video tapes and transferring them to dvd with the present my sibs and I gave them for their anniversary last year. I'm glad it's being put to good use. As of today, I haven't done any Christmas shopping. It's kind of hard when you're pretty much dirt poor and have so many to give. I've narrowed down presents this year, but it seems like kids keep popping out and I can't not give my family nothing. It's also so easy to give my brother presents. I guess it's partly my fault for him being so spoiled. Anyway I think I'm going shopping tomorrow with my cousin. Maybe I'll find something then for the people on my list. I only have 12 this year. *sigh* and I haven't mailed any Christmas cards either *sigh*
In terms of getting into the Christmas spirit, my brother and I decked out our house in Christmas lights and decorated the Christmas tree. Our neighbors are envious :) it's rather pretty with the reindeer, Santa, Christmas lanterns, snowflake lights, garland lights, net lights and mini trees and pretty wreath set up we have no longer taped to our door. My brother and I also did a gingerbread train and are making a graham cracker replica of our house (since we would like to eat the house and dislike ginger bread). Okay well I have to get on with the festivities. My friend called and we're having lunch on Sunday. Haven't spoke to them properly since school started, so it will be nice if things work out.
Here's my brother thinking he's all cool decorating the train.

There's me in all my awesomeness :D

Here's the finished product and a sneak peek of our graham cracker house on the corner (^_^)V
