What do when everyone, including people you want to hide from are on FB?
First it was Friendster, then MySpace, and now Facebook. Developers have made it easier and easier for everyone to get in the ring of fire. I mean my aunts, uncles, dad, and elementary aged cousins are on these sites. That's pretty disturbing if you ask me.
People join networking sites for any number of reasons. Some want to meet new people, some want to keep in touch with family and friends, some want find others to share their interests with, and some just want to find their long lost friend from the 3rd grade who now lives in Virginia. Whatever the case, social networking sites has its pros and cons. It definitely brings people together, but sometimes it also brings people you want to avoid like the plague. You become an easy target. And if you don't want to be found, it isn't recommended to go anywhere near these sites, because that will be an impossible privacy task.
So what do you do about that? The only things you can do to hide from people is to "friend" the people you like and block your name from searches. You can also just change your name so people can't search it (John Smith vs. "Bigg Daddy"). This makes it pretty difficult though when the person you do know rejects you cause they have no idea its you (I almost did this to my cousin, but decided to accept and see who else she knew. Good thing my elusive cousin!). So, I'd suggest using a nickname people know, but would not think of using to search you. I'm sure most of you who love to hide have already taken some drastic measures to privatize your pages to the point of deleting them, but you know there will always be another site. It's just a matter of time when everyone else catches up. You just need to be one step ahead and run towards the sun before they do.
